Katie Burke, senior strategist and chief of staff, is one of the country’s leading political and corporate communications strategists with nearly 20 years of experience at the highest levels of government and business.
At Edelman, Katie serves as senior strategist and chief of staff to agency president and CEO Richard Edelman. She also provides strategic counsel and media training for clients. Her clients have included GE, Shell, HP, S&P Global, Western Union, UBS, Magnetar Capital and Suzlon.
Before returning to Edelman in 2017, Katie was CEO of Katie Burke Communications. Previously, she served as executive vice president of marketing and communications at Nielsen, and as global chair of Public Affairs at Edelman.
She was communications director for Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s re-election victory in California.
Before the Schwarzenegger campaign, Katie served as director of Television News in the Bush White House, where she was chief liaison and spokeswoman for all television network executives, anchors, and producers, and was involved in a wide range of foreign and domestic policy issues. Katie was a senior spokeswoman and director of Broadcast Media for the Republican National Committee (RNC) during the 2004 election cycle.
Her career began as a staffer for U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, where she reached the positions of Communications Director and policy advisor.
Katie earned her Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics and graduated from Skidmore College.
She currently sits on the Board of Trustees at Sacred Heart University.
